How We Started

While filming a pilot for a reality TV show in San Diego, I traveled up to North Los Angeles to pick up a custom cafe' racer (Naked Motorcycle) from my buddy Dustin Kott.  About 30 minutes into my ride back to San Diego I noticed a car pulled over off to the side of the 405 freeway with a young mom and 3 kids sitting on the hill.  Pulling my cafe racer over, I was in her trunk pulling out spare tire parts and heard a huge commotion which pulled me out of the trunk QUICK(!) as I saw a motorcycle slide right past me, sparks flying in every direction, as sound I will never forget.  It was night, all I could see were headlights from 4 lanes coming towards me but I couldn't see the rider(s), it was too dark.  I ran out into the roadway waving my arms for the traffic to slow and stop while I looked for the rider(s).  What seemed like minutes, was maybe 15-20 seconds, the rider was dressed in all black and 4 lanes over from where his motorcycle laid rest. After the paramedics left and the fire crew helped me with the family's flat tire, all I could think about the rest of the way to San Diego (3 hours) was how incredibly invisible I must be to the hundreds of automobiles around me with my very small, 4" by 2" tail/brake light just below the rear of my seat.  The next morning VATA7 was born!  I invented the World's 1st LED Gear, that wirelessly connects to your motorcycle's lighting system.  And, from that point I've dedicated my life creating VATA7 to increase visibility by giving riders the ability to customize and interact with their own, personal LED gear and in that, Illuminating the Human Machine!
